The official website of the Allahabad University was hacked
purportedly by Pakistan-based hackers who posted anti-national message
with a clip of a burning tricolour on it.
The matter came to light at around 1.30 am on Tuesday after which the officials shut down the site to take back control.
The university officials said the hacker put up a message in Hindi on the website that said ‘Kashmir would become like Pakistan’. The message said the site has been hacked by PHC Chapter.
The hackers also posted a photograph of slain Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani with the message: “I am Wani, I am Pakistani.”
It is believed that PHC stands for ‘Pakistan Haxors Crew’ that has claimed responsibility of hacking the websites of many Indian institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-Delhi), IIT-Varanasi, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Delhi University (DU), among others.
Confirming the incident, in-charge of AU’s information and communication technology (ICT) cell, Prof Avinash Chandra Pandey said the case was similar to the recent website hacking of Delhi University and Aligarh Muslim University.
The Allahabad university authorities are planning to lodge a report with the police.
On September 6, 2014, the website was hacked while it was being updated by the experts of ICT cell.
The website remained offline for five days and started working after its security features were strengthened. An FIR had been lodged by the AU authorities then.
