Here are some simple steps to get your Wrong UPI Account Transferred Money Back. These are official methods so you are sure to get a Refund.
The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a digital payment system that
allows people to transfer money between bank accounts using their
smartphones. While the UPI system is generally safe and secure, there
are instances where errors can occur, such as transactions getting stuck
after the money is debited or people becoming vulnerable to UPI fraud.
One common issue is mistakenly sending money to the wrong account.
If you accidentally send money to the wrong mobile number or scan a
fraudulent QR code, there are steps you can take to try to get your
money back. Also, here are the new UPI offers you might be looking for!
UPI App Support
The first thing you should do is contact the customer support of the UPI
app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc) you used to make the transfer.
The service providers have their own mechanisms for providing support to
customers, and you can flag your issue and ask for a refund.
Submit Complain to NPCI
You can also file a complaint with the National Payments Corporation of
India (NPCI) portal. To do this, go to the NPCI website and click on the
"What we do" tab, then tap on UPI. Next, tap and open the Dispute
Redressal Mechanism. Fill in all your transaction details, including the
UPI transaction ID, virtual payment address, amount transferred, date
of transaction, email ID, and mobile number. Select "Incorrectly
transferred to another account" as the reason for the complaint and
submit it.
Contact PSP Bank
Escalate it with the payment service provider (PSP) bank. If necessary,
you can also contact the bank where the end-user customer maintains
their account on the PSP app/TPAP app.
RBI Ombudsman: last rescue
Approach the Banking Ombudsman and/or the Ombudsman for Digital
Complaints. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), you can file a
complaint with the Ombudsman by writing on a plain piece of paper and
sending it to the concerned office of the Ombudsman by post, fax, or
hand delivery. You can also send the complaint through email to the
Ombudsman for Digital Transactions.
The Ombudsman for digital transactions is a senior official appointed by
the RBI to handle customer complaints. The official will look into
complaints against System Participants as defined in the Scheme for
deficiency in certain services covered under the grounds of complaint
specified under Clause 8 of the Scheme.
